 New passenger record in Košice 

In July 2007 the Košice Airport handled 58 266 passengers, that is 20% more than in July of the last year (48 612 passengers). The rise in number of passengers is apparent especially on domestic flights, where almost 53% growth was recorded, but also in summer charter flights.
 
A total of 42 822 passengers was handled on international flights, of which 13 882 passengers on regular flights between Košice and Prague and between Košice and Vienna. Domestic flights were used by 15 444 passengers. In July 2007 totally 15 191 passengers were handled on regular flights between Košice and Bratislava. In July the landed tonnes index grew to 17 242 tonnes, that is by 17% compared with July 2006. In total the Košice Airport handled 1 022 flights. 20 tonnes of cargo were transported in July, a 52% growth compared with July 2006.
 
The number of handled passengers in the first seven months of 2007 grew by 23% compared to the same period of the previous year – to 227 948 handled passengers. On international flights we have handled 129 780 passengers. 98 168 passengers flew on domestic flights. Regular flights to/from Bratislava, Prague and Vienna were used by 178 847 passengers. Irregular and other flights accounted for a total of 49 101 passengers. During the first seven months the Košice Airport handled 79 477 landed tones, representing a 14% increase compared to the same period of 2006. The number of aircraft movements grew to 6 021. Over 148 tonnes of cargo were handled over the first 7 months.
 
SkyEurope Airlines operates regular flights between Košice and Bratislava, Czech Airlines fly to/from Prague and Austrian Airlines Group operate regular flights to/from Vienna. Charter flights are operated by Air Slovakia, Bulgarian Air Charter, CSA, Hemus Air, Karthago Airlines, Koral Blue Airlines, Nouvel Air and Tunis Air. With respect to the proportion of individual carriers on total passenger figures in July 2007, Air Slovakia is in the first place with 15 990 transported passengers to/from Košice. SkyEurope Airlines is the busiest airline operating regular lines, with a total of 15 191 passengers. There were 107 charter flights to 15 destinations in July. “3 741 passengers and over 47 tonnes of baggage including cargo were handled on 13th July,“ described the peak day Košice Airport CEO, Michael Hoeferer. “We are very proud of the passenger record and we thank our employees for their excellent work. I am convinced that the success story of Košice Airport will continue.”
