400 000th passenger welcomed at the airport

(November 27, 2007) On Tuesday, November 27, the number of passengers handled by our airport this year reached 400 000. The jubilee passenger was Mr.Fernado Iannucci, who arrived in Košice aboard an Austrian Airliines flight from Vienna. Mr. Iannucci is general manager of the Prima company which has a seat in Poprad and produces plastic parts by injection moulding. He may be considered a frequent-flyer, since, as he told us, he flies to Košice two or three times a month. Mr. Iannucci was presented small gifts from the airport management and the Austrian Airlines representatives. Since on the same day last year (ie on Nov 27, 2006) only 319 401 passengers were recorded at the airport, the interannual growth in number of passengers is about 25 %. It is now also sure that this year a record number of passengers will be handled by our airport, exceeding by far the last year’s record of 343 818 passengers handled. Košice airport has recorded rapid expansion in the recent ten years, with number of paseengers tripled since 1997. Recent introduction of new SkyEurope direct flights from Košice to London, Dublin and Prague may be seen as another important contributing factor to further rapid growth of pasengers using our aiport.
